In 2014, the Briscoe Center embarked on a two year transcription project in its pilot program Making History Searchable: Transcribe It!. With the help of volunteers, 205 documents from the Natchez Trace Collection were completely or partially transcribed. The documents ranged in difficulty from beginner, short in length with little to no cursive writing, to advanced, multi-page documents with substantial handwritten content. These transcriptions have served to make the documents more accessible, allowing them to be searched with greater accuracy and speed.
