After receiving an Archives Basics Grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 2009, the Briscoe Center increased the accessibility of over 1,600 collections. At the outset of the “History Revealed” project nearly 4,500 collections were “hidden” with documentation of their existence and contents available only in the Briscoe Center’s Reading Room or through a mediated exchange with Public Service staff. The project surveyed these hidden collections and created collection-level library catalog records and online finding aids for a third of them. These newly accessible collection descriptions are available on TARO, OCLC, and the University of Texas Libraries online catalog.
