Frederick Baldwin and Wendy Watriss are photographers, authors, exhibit curators, festival organizers of Houston’s FotoFest Biennial, and partners in both work and life. Their photographic work in the United States and abroad is documentary rather than journalistic in nature, seeking to depict the ambience and feeling of life through the lens of a listener. Selections from Watriss and Baldwin’s archive, recently gifted to the Briscoe Center, represented intimate, diverse, and even disturbing images of events and lives witnessed by the photographers.
