Speakers: Terry McDonell and Don Carleton
As an editor, journalist, and writer, Terry McDonell’s substantial contributions helped shape the “golden age” of American magazine publishing, including his editorial leadership of Esquire, Rolling Stone, and Sports Illustrated. In his newest memoir, Irma, McDonell pays loving tribute to the 25-year-old widow who raised him. Through a series of vignettes, written with lyrical grace, McDonell depicts his mother and her influence on his life, presenting a deeply moving and personal history of a mother’s love for her son.
