The Briscoe Center for American History mourns the passing of “Teddy” Theodora Carter Vanderwerth Boehm, a member of the Briscoe Center’s Ambassadors Council and a great friend to the Winedale Historical Complex.
Theodora, known as “Teddy” by friends and family, was born November 10, 1938, in Brenham, Texas. She attended Blinn College, followed by The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in history in June 1959. Always a history buff, she later earned her master’s degree in history from Texas A&M University.
Teddy had a passion for community service, notably with her work in outreach, art, and history. She and her husband, Dr. Henry Boehm, were members of the original Friends of Winedale, eventually joining the Briscoe Center’s Ambassadors Council.
“Teddy was passionate about history, and she and her husband Henry were steadfast supporters of the cause of history,” said Briscoe Center Executive Director Don Carleton. “Their work for the Briscoe Center and especially Winedale will not be forgotten.”
