Who We Are
The Sam Rayburn Museum documents the life and career of Samuel Taliaferro Rayburn (1882-1961) an American politician who served as the 43rd Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Mr. Sam, as he was affectionately called, used a gift for his distinguished service to the nation as seed money to build the Sam Rayburn Library and Museum as a tribute to the people of Fannin County. Designed to invoke the aesthetic of the nation’s capital, the museum serves as a gathering place for students, families, and visitors to learn about the early to mid twentieth century Congress.
