Ms. Penny H. Burck

Penny Burck was born in Texarkana, Texas, and grew up in San Antonio. She studied journalism at The University of Texas at Austin, then married and lived in Waco for 17 years. In 1987 she moved to Austin and married Dan Burck in 1998. The late Mr. Burck served as chancellor of The University of Texas System from 1999 to 2003 and was also a member of the Briscoe Center Ambassadors Council.
Ms. Burck joined the center’s Ambassadors Council in 2009 and is a founding member of the Director’s Circle. Her community involvements in Waco and Austin include: member of the UT Elementary School Management Board and chair of annual giving; Junior League in San Antonio, Waco, and Austin; president of St. Paul’s Episcopal School Board in Waco; Seton Development Board; Austin Historical Society board; active with Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae and House Board; Children’s Hospital Telethon Volunteer Chair; and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
