Mrs. Karey P. Bresenhan

Karey Bresenhan is the founder and president of Quilts, Inc. and director emeritus of its events, the International Quilt Festival and International Quilt Market. Her company also produced the Patchwork & Quilt Expo in Europe for 20 years. Elected to the Quilter’s Hall of Fame in 1995, Mrs. Bresenhan is a fifth-generation quilter who has written and edited books on both traditional and art quilts. An acknowledged expert on quilt dating, she has served as a quilt appraiser and quilt contest judge. In addition, she is one of the founders of the International Quilt Association, the Alliance for American Quilts (now the Quilt Alliance), and the Texas Quilt Museum. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin.
