CHRISTMAS AT WINEDALE 2007
ROUND TOP, Texas – November 15, 2007 – “Christmas at Winedale 2007” will take place Sunday, December 9, from noon to 4 p.m. rain or shine.
Activities for the day include tours of Winedale’s historic homes decorated for a nineteenth-century Christmas. Travel from site to site in a horse-drawn stagecoach or stroll along walking paths to visit the neighbors or the old Winedale School. Observe the neighbors spinning, weaving, or whittling their Christmas gifts in Hazel’s Lone Oak Cottage, see Mrs. Wegner pluck her goose for down, and watch the village blacksmith at work in his fire box. Children can make old-time crafts and pet farm animals in the barnyard. You might even see the Weihnachtsmann (Santa Claus) giving out candy coins! Stop in the Theater Barn to enjoy a bowl of hunter’s stew while you watch Der Froehliche Gesangverein von Winedale German singers, dulcimer playing, and other entertainment.
All activities are free and open to the public.
Winedale, located four miles northeast of Round Top at 3738 FM 2714 (off FM 1457), is a division of the Center for American History, the University of Texas at Austin.
