Donald G. Adams was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1968 and 1970 and to the Texas State Senate in 1972 and 1974. In 1975, Lieutenant Governor Bill Hobby appointed him to be Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Committee. In 1978, he resigned from the Texas Senate to become chief legal counsel to Governor Dolph Briscoe.
Currently, Judge Adams is a presiding judge of the Municipal Court Record for the cities of Sunrise Beach Village, Meadowlakes, Highland Haven, and Cottonwood Shores. He is also a guest lecturer at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and Texas State University. Judge Adams has served as chair of the Texas Industrial Commission and the Texas Aircraft Pooling Board and as vice chair of the Texas Cancer Council. He holds a law degree from Baylor University and is a founding member of the Briscoe Center’s Director’s Circle.
Judge Adams has two children with his late wife, Linda Cullum: Don Adams Jr. and Debra Adams Weaver, and two grandchildren: Thomas Adams and Ashley Weaver.
